Training program MARRAD

MARRAD

MARRAD - training program on a CD-ROM is designed in accordance with requirements of resolution of International Convention on Standards of Trainig, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers,1978.

MARRAD is designed to train maritime students in radar operation and plotting, and in the operational use of Automatic Radar Plottig Aids (ARPA). The radar picture looks very realistic and include following elements and effects: coastlline, traffic ship with appropriate echo size, racons, SART beacons, navigational marks,sea clutter,rain clutter ect.

The data of an own vessel are entered from the keyboard. The area of sailing gets out at installation the programs. The imitator of Radar/ARPA is based on a digital monitor with control panel.

Main technical characteristic:

  • Dimension of modelled water area, 100x100 miles;
  • Depth of modelled water area, 1-500 m;
  • Own ships:
    • number up to 6;
    • displacement 400-150 000 t;
    • speed of headway 0-45 knots;
    • course, 0-359 degrees;
    • rudder angle starboard / port with resolution 1 degree 0-30 degrees;
    • engine load 0-105%;
  • Targets:
    • speed 0-45 knots;
    • course 0-359 degrees;
  • Maximum range of target acquisition 30 miles;
  • Maximum range of land areas acquisition 20 miles;
  • Number of navigation marks up to 60;
  • Number of shadow sectors 4;
  • Angle of shadow sector 0-10 degrees;
  • External effects:
    • speed of wind 0-12 m/sec;
    • speed of current, 0-5 knots;
  • Yawing amplitude, 0-5 degrees
